Way leads into the Carfax where the plaque can be found at the
entrance to Pirie's Alley, a medieval twitten (narrow alley)
leading to the new retail development of Pirie's Place with its
bronze statue of former local headmaster, Mr Pirie, and his
donkey.
Further
along the Carfax, the Olde King's Head has an 18th century façade,
but the rest of the building is of older construction. For
many years an ancient coaching inn, it was once an Inland Revenue
office and later a focus for public and political meetings. |
