St Mark's spire

The spire within the Royal & Sun Alliance complex was part of St Mark's church which stood until recently on this site.  The church was built as a chapel-of-ease in 1840, the spire being added in 1870.  Public demand and the Horsham Society's efforts ensured the latter's survival when the rest of the building was demolished.

Nearby on Chart Way is the Royal & Sun Alliance atrium, a glass-clad structure whose windows are decorated with a panorama of the South Downs.  Inside are a huge chandelier and a tapestry of the City of London.
