 Planning: letters of representation

January 2016

15/0886 Land south of Woodlands Chase, Sedgwick Lane

17 November 2015

Dear Ms Wilkes,

I am writing on behalf of Horsham Society, for who I am the Secretary of the Planning Sub Committee.

We wish to object to the Planning Application DC/15/0886, detailing landscaping proposals for this project, as it would seem that the submission has been compromised due to the apparent felling of certain mature trees which formed an essential part of the original landscaping proposals. Whilst Tree Preservation Orders have not been imposed on the various mature trees, their removal will materially affect the appearance of the proposed scheme. We believe that the applicant should submit a further proposal, incorporating mature tree planting to replace those removed and to retain the essentially rural appearance of this section of Sedgwick Lane.

Yours sincerely,
David Griffiths. (for Horsham Society).

Dear Ms Wilkes,

I am writing on behalf of Horsham Society regarding Planning Application: DC/15/0886. I gather that this application which was initially refused has now been approved under appeal.

You will recall from my initial email of 17th November 2015 of the concerns of Horsham Society regarding the felling of trees, which had been included on the landscape proposals as 'to be retained', particularly around the entrance to the development.

Now that the scheme has now been approved, it may be there are no conditions attached, as the scheme went to appeal. Therefore how are you proposing to address the removal of these trees - either (a) instruct the developer to reinstate with mature specimens, or (b) request a revised landscape plan, indicating how the developer intends to address the trees which have been removed.

I look forward to receiving your response.

Yours sincerely,

David Griffiths.
