I am writing on behalf of the Horsham Society to object strongly to this application. The land in question was clearly set aside as a wide grass verge when the area was developed to create a sense of openness that reflects the urban fringe nature of this location. It would be quite wrong to enclose the area with a fence and would seriously damage the streetscape and general public amenity. It would also be contrary to the Horsham Town Design Statement (particularly, but not exclusively, re enclosure of open plan gardens and changes to landscaping which is important to the wider street scene (page 16).
