Planning: letters of
representation |
January 2009 |
23 January 2009
Head of Development Control
for the attention of Val Cheesman
Horsham District Council
Park House, North Street
Horsham RH12 1RL
Dear Ms Cheesman
DC/08/2585 THE NELSON, TRAFALGAR ROAD, HORSHAM
I write on behalf of the Horsham Society to object to
this proposal.
The Society notes that the proposal is for two
3-storey blocks each of four dwellings, a reduction on
the previous application and, at first sight,
compatible with the character of the area but the
proposal will increase the residential use and the car
ownership in an area with already notoriously
congested roads.
The Society also notes that this is a corner site
which has been distinctively marked by the public
house and adjoining hall whereas an element of
comparable visual interest is sadly lacking in the
proposal.
For these two reasons it is arguable that the site is
better suited for a non-residential use with the
potential for a more distinctive design which, if
achieved, would have a positive effect on the
character area.
Yours sincerely
Oliver Palmer
