Muggeridge Field

Ms Louise Goldsmith
Leader
West Sussex County Council

Dear Ms Goldsmith
MUGGERIDGE FIELD,
ATHELSTAN WAY,
HORSHAM
As you will know your Council’s planning appeal for
the development of Muggeridge Field was recently
turned down by the Planning Inspector.
This is the second appeal to have been refused and we
sincerely hope that WSCC will now accept that
development of this sensitive site which has long been
used by local people for informal recreation would be
inappropriate.
As the Council has already declared that the land is
no longer required for education purposes there seems
to be no reason why it should not be reassigned for
recreational use.
We suggest that the site should be nominated as a
Queen Elizabeth II Field to mark the Diamond Jubilee.
This would not only protect the site in perpetuity but
would provide an excellent opportunity for the Council
to participate in this worthwhile initiative.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Copies go to Councillors Watson, Dennis, Sheldon,
Millson, Hellawell and Catchpole.
Yours sincerely
John Steele
Secretary, Planning Sub Committee
Muggeridge Field
