WSCC turns down speed limit for
Hammerpond Road
The Horsham Society, at the request
of local residents, has been
investigating the need for a speed limit in Hammerpond
Road. According to WSCC the accident record of
the last three years (7 slight injuries, 1 serious, 0
fatal) doesn't justify any such action but, following
news of impending speed limit reductions, HS Chairman
John Steele wrote to WSCC highways supremo Lt.Col. Tex
Pemberton requesting that Hammerpond Road be included.
Unfortunately this last-ditch
attempt has failed. Apparently the road is
unsuitable for a speed limit because the traffic
travels too fast ... !
